Vote for parties based on their policies not their party colors.
Elections are the third most important and most vital part of what makes any democracy a democracy worth living under; however voting based on party politics is hindering western nations long term economic viability and security. Leading the nation that is at the helm of the ship into a thucydides trap with the rising economies and nations of the east and Russia.
This is most apparent in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, as the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation finds itself in a former soviet territory nation which is not even a full member of its organisation. As the nation that is at the helm pays most of the cost financially, logistically and technologically in order to secure Ukraine's sovereignty. It is doing what Russia is doing in the nation of Venezuela, kidnapping its President, whether democratically elected or not, in order to resolve and ensure its own long term energy supply.
I am no legal expert but if i went to my neighbors home, and kidnapped their father so that i could have free and unrestricted access to their fridge and pantry where do i get the moral standing to tell the other guy doing the same thing one street over from me that he is violating their home?
This is why it is important to vote on policy; for when one votes based on allegiance to a political party you give a blank slate to whomever is in charge of that party to do as they wish for you have nothing to hold them accountable with as a population and polity. After all politics is not sport and when you reduce it to coluors of a party; you are essentially reducing the fate human life to gang war fare by other means.
At the end of the day, politicians are meant to serve the people and the word democracy when broken down is demonstration, and brave cry of the people. A right that we once used to have and has been severely restricted by the current administration. https://www.hrlc.org.au/explainers/human-rights-briefing-vic-anti-protest-laws/
Which is a huge shame because we all came from all ends of the earth to this nation to get away from those types of restrictions in our own birth nations. The only place left on earth where these rights are protected is the United States and that is only because the populace has the legal right to bear arms. Imperfect as that nation is at the very minimum at least your right to say what you wish is not only protected by law but by your own arms.
